THE BLYTHEWOOD GARDEN CLUB

The Blythewood Garden Club is committed to the beautification of our community, to partnerships with other community groups and to the continued support of encouraging its residents to be informed of best gardening methods to utilize in our own gardens.  Seasonal planters are maintained at the Blythewood Post Office and at the Richland Library.

The Blythewood Garden Club offers an annual meeting at Blythewood High School for our

community to hear about the latest improvements available to home gardeners.  The activities of BHS Agricultural program are shared with the community and are encouraged to participate in their annual plant sale.

The Blythewood Garden Club has partnered with the Blythewood Historical Society in establishing a Fence Garden at the Langford Nord House.  Almost 10 years ago The Garden Cub approached the Historical Society and suggested that a South Carolina Fence Garden be established next to the Langford-Nord House.  This garden, which is based on plans supported by the South Carolina Wildlife Federation is planted the garden with a variety of shrubs, annuals and perennials that support local wildlife.  Upkeep of the garden is managed by a group of members and seasonal plants are added throughout the year.  A brochure of the plants is available to visitors to the Langford-Nord House.

Two years ago, the Blythewood Garden Club successfully secured a grant from the PLANT

AMERICA Community Project Grant for almost one thousand dollars to refurbish the garden. With local support from individuals and from Garden Club funds, the garden was expanded and

updated.

For sixty-eight years, members of the Blythewood Garden Club have willingly participated in the life

of the Blythewood Community with the goal of making the Town of Blythewood be a beautiful place to live, work and play.
