History TidbitSt. Mark’s Lutheran Church

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church has been serving the Blythewood community since 1885. The original church building was located about two miles west of the current town limits. The old building was demolished before the new St. Mark’s Church was constructed

on its present site in Blythewood in 1930. Some of the building materials from the old church were used in the building of the new church. This new church is situated on the north side of the Blythewood High School Stadium on Wilson Blvd. In contrast to St. Mark’s simple red brick exterior, the interior has

finely crafted woodwork with the ceiling built in the shape of an ark. The unique stained-glass windows were installed when the church building was erected. These windows are the oldest stained-glass windows in Blythewood and are among the oldest and most

beautiful in the Midlands. Individual windows are dedicated to the families and members that were important to the life of St. Mark’s Church. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran

Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Worship service is every Sunday at 11:00 AM. Visitors are welcome.
